Exhibition of Usui Kozima's “Suihanga (Japanese marbling paintings)” collections - Mountains, Literature, & Arts -

Usui KozumaUsui Kozima (1873-1948) is a genuine cultural figure who was active as a banker, alpinist, writer, and collector in the Meiji Period. He came from Yokohama.
The exhibition displays about 250 items collected by Usui Kozima. These items include “Ukiyoe (Japanese wood block prints)” from Hokusai Katsushika, Hiroshige Utagawa, and Kuniyoshi Utagawa, western block prints from Albrecht Dürer, Vincent van Gogh, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Pablo Picasso, and landscape paintings from Usui Kozima and water-color painters who were Usui's friends. Through these items, visitors can enjoy the magnificent world of Usui Kozima.

Night Scren MuseumA “Night Scene Museum” will be open on the observatory of Yokohama Landmark Tower. The observation deck is the highest in Japan. Boards and pictures are displayed to introduce Yokohama's night scene and history and current Yokohama's night scene. The museum offers a fascinating atmosphere for allowing visitors to deeply enjoy the night views of Yokohama.

The 20th Hina Doll Exhibition

Hina DollsThe annual event exhibits “Hina Dolls,” traditional Japanese dolls for Girls' Festival. Visitors can enjoy watching many collections such as “Hina-kazari (set of Hina dolls and miniature accoutrements),” “Goten-kazari (set of dolls Hina dolls, miniature accoutrements, and a miniature palace),” and items of “Keshi-hina (tiny precision-made dolls).” These collections covered the period from the Edo Period to the present age.

Yokohama Sankeien Garden “Kanbaikai (plum blossoms viewing gathering)”

Yokohama Sankeiei Garden“Yokohama Sankeien Garden” is a Japanese-style garden that Yokohama can be proud of. The garden has been known as one of the best plum blossom-viewing spots in Yokohama for a long time. There are about 600 plum trees including “Hakubai (white plums)" and “Kobai (red plums)” in the garden. At this time of year, these plum trees produce a lot of beautiful flowers. Many events will be held during the period, such as “rice-cake pounding,” “dances to local folk song,” “traditional Japanese dances,” and “Haiku (Japanese poetry) events.”

Brilliant WayThere is a lighting promenade that links many light-up spots of Yokohama Bay Area.
In the “Lighting Promenade” project, Yamashita Park Avenue’s trees are decorated with a lot of lights. This promenade links MINATO MIRAI 21 AREA and Motomachi & Chinatown. A total of 1000 people (first-come basis) can write a message on a “Lighting Ball” and decorate trees with the ball.

2007 Yokohama International Women's Ekiden

Women's Ekiden“Yokohama International Women's Ekiden” is one of the greatest woman's marathon relay races. In early spring, world's top runners from Japan and overseas race each other on a 42.195km-course. The course starts and ends at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse with Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise as the halfway point.
