“Kakushokaku” is the former residence of Sankei Hara (the founder of Yokohama Sankeien Garden). During the first three days of the New Year, this Japanese traditional house is open to the public. Light and Color/ People Carrying Memories “Toshio Arimoto Exhibition”

Toshio Arimoto, a Japanese artist, passed away at the age of 38 in 1985. He still fascinates people today with his artworks. The exhibition displays about 130 works. He made these poetic works in his own unique style established under the influence of Japanese Buddhist painting and baroque music.

"Idol exhibition"

Shin Yokohama Raumen Museum
Long-awaited “Fuyumen (Winter Raumen Noodle)” being now on sale

“Raumen (Chinese noodle)” is one of dishes suitable for cold seasons. In Shin Yokohama Raumen Museum, visitors can taste various kinds of seasonal noodles “Fuyumen” from January 11. Sea Park “The 11th Dondoyaki”

“Dondoyaki” is a festival of the Lunar New Year. People burn New Year’s first calligraphic works (Kakizome), pine and bamboo ornaments (Kadomatsu), or New Year holiday’s ornaments. This event is held to pray for proficiency in writing skills or good health. A total of three 7-meter poles are set up on the beach of Sea Park. They are decorated with New Year holiday’s ornaments, Kadomatsu, and Kakizome. When setting fire to the poles, people hold it up while praying for good health. Game events for kids will also take place on the day. In fancy fairs, people can purchase Kanazawa Nabe (cuisine served in the pot), Amazake (sweet drink made from fermented rice), rice cakes, Oshiruko (sweet red-bean soup), Yakitori (grilled chicken), and Yakisoba (pan-fried noodles). Yokohama Brilliant Way

From the time of sunset to 24:00

There is a lighting promenade that links many light-up spots of Yokohama Bay Area.
In the “Lighting Promenade” project, Yamashita Park Avenue’s trees are decorated with a lot of lights. This promenade links MINATO MIRAI 21 AREA and Motomachi & Chinatown. A total of 1000 people (first-come basis) can write a message on a “Lighting Ball” and decorate trees with the ball.
